Cookie Policy
We use only technical cookies: the ones that keep your session, and the ones that let us notice malfunctions. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not profile you.
This English text is a courtesy translation. The Italian version at meridiaan.io/it/cookies is the authoritative reference; in case of any discrepancy, the Italian version prevails.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser when you visit it. They serve to make the site work properly, to remember your preferences, and, in some cases, to collect statistical or marketing information.
Cookies we use
Meridiaan uses only technical cookies. We do not use profiling cookies, behavioural tracking cookies, or cookies for advertising purposes, and we neither sell nor share the data we collect.
We set four cookies, serving two different purposes.
To keep your session:
auth_session: manages your authenticated session after login. Expires when the browser is closed, or after 30 days if you choose "Remember me".
auth_hint: tells the server whether you have an active session, without transmitting credentials. Expires after 30 days.
Without these two it is not possible to access the authenticated features of the service.
To notice malfunctions:
ai_user: gives your browser a random identifier, which contains neither your name nor your email. It lets us see whether the same device runs into the same problem repeatedly over several days, and tell an isolated fault from one affecting everybody. Expires after 90 days.
ai_session: groups the events of a single visit, so an error can be read together with whatever preceded it. Expires after about 30 minutes of inactivity.
These last two are set by Application Insights, the Microsoft Azure diagnostics tool we use to collect errors and response times. The data goes to an Azure resource of our own, inside the European Union.
Third-party cookies
We do not load tracking pixels, social widgets, or advertising scripts, and none of the cookies we set is readable by third parties for their own purposes.
The service does load the Application Insights diagnostics script described above: it is Microsoft's, but the data reaches an Azure resource of our own and is not used by Microsoft for its own purposes. The two cookies it sets are first-party, meaning readable only by our domain.
The Contact page sends the form data to our provider Formspree only at the moment you press send: it does not set cookies on the site.
For usage statistics we use Simple Analytics, which **sets no cookies** and does not fingerprint visitors: that is why it does not appear among the cookies above and why you are not asked for any consent. We chose it precisely so that no banner would be needed.
If in the future we introduce analytics or marketing tools that set non-technical cookies, we will update this page and ask for your consent before switching them on.
Cookie duration
Every cookie we use has a defined expiry, shown above next to its name: from about 30 minutes for the session one up to 90 days for the one identifying the browser. No cookie remains in your browser indefinitely.
How to manage cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling the session cookies will prevent you from accessing the authenticated features of Meridiaan; deleting the diagnostics ones leaves the service working, and a new one will simply be set on your next visit.
Instructions for the most common browsers:
Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data
